I'm Kris.
i'm a rabid knitter, of the sort that chose my "superbowl knitting" before i planned out the "superbowl food." in fact, i didn't plan "superbowl food." we ordered pizza. and i took a nap.
i like weaving, although i wouldn't claim to be really good at it. i have a triangle loom and a hazel rose square loom which are both warped and waiting to be finished, and i have a couple of rigid heddle looms which are feeling neglected at the moment. oh, and i have a tapestry loom. and a couple of inkle looms. one of those is warped up with leftover sock yarn. how many people do you know who have a hand-woven belt to match their hand-knit socks?
i think i like spinning, at least what little i have done. i have a bunch of spindles of different sorts, and i fiddle around with them from time to time, but i haven't really done much with them yet. i have recently spun up some silk (from very pretty dyed hankies) and may knit a hat from it.. well, we'll see. i own a lovely ashford traditional wheel, which i have never put together. i bought it secondhand at a very reasonable price, and i hope someday i will pull it out and make lovely yarn on it.. or at least pull it out and make it look as if i were making lovely yarn on it.
i don't crochet. i know how, but i'm not that good at it.
in this blog, i will blather on endlessly about my fiber obsession, thus sparing my poor Dear Husband (that's DH, people) and my long-suffering Dear Son and Dear Daughter (that's DS and DD, right?). Not too much personal ranting, though. I had a blog before, and ranted a bit too much, and eventually just felt very.. exposed. i started feeling a little icky about it. so i took it down. here we have my more restrained, more focused blogging attempt, and i hope that you, my new Dear Reader will enjoy and visit often. I'll try to post about once or twice a week. sometimes i will post pictures of Finished Objects (FO!) and sometimes i will post original patterns.. tho often, my FOs result from such unfocused fiddling that i can't begin to write down what i've done. this may challenge me to write things out more consistently.
be happy people. i hope you will visit again.
